May Early Works ~

I hope this finds you all well.
It's been a pretty surreal time this year for all of us.
I've got two nurse daughters, one in Covid unit, the other a NICU nurse where mama's that have Covid are giving birth.
I'm doing what I can to help by sewing masks and scrub hats for all who need.

I've also got a couple of items in my Early Works shoppe that will go live the afternoon of April 30.
Hope you can stop by.

Have a blessed day and stay safe!

Spring at Barefoot Primitives ~ Early Works

 ~~~**~~~
 Welcome Spring!
All of us have been affected in one way or another by Covid-19.
I do want to assure you that we are staying home, cleaning like crazy, even more than regular, and are healthy and fine.
 I'm a hugger, and that's one of the things I miss the most is hugging my parents (who are in their 80's), and my kids and grand kids.
I've been busy sewing face masks for my two nurse daughters and their co workers. It's not exactly what they need, but it's better than nothing. I've also got a neighbor whose a nurse, and I've given her face masks as well. Using ties instead of elastic is not what they need.
Here's just a few that have been sent:
I know a lot of sewers are hitting their machines with gusto to help out. Thank You!
And thank you so much for all the Medical Workers, Police, Fire, EMT's,  people delivering food to others and so many more that are working tirelessly to help us.
God Bless You!
Our prayers go out to our country.
~~~**~~~

I did get something ready for my Early Works Shoppe.
 It will go live the afternoon of March 31.
Hope you can stop by.
Be well and safe my friends!

A bigger ironing board....

I needed a bigger ironing area, especially for quilting. I googled how, of course, then I asked a quilter friend how she did hers.  Easy peasy.
I helped my husband cut the board, then layed down my materials on the floor. Of course, if you have a big table you can do that too. Got my staple gun ready and rock 'n rolled!

I love blue ticking, so I got 2 yards, which was plenty with some extra left over for future projects.
Laid the ticking on the floor with the right side facing down, then a layer of muslin, then a double layer of batting.  Fold it around tight as you go and staple to bottom side of board. I did both long sides first. With the short ends I trimmed some fabric so it wouldn't be so bulky and pulled tight and stapled. It was pretty easy and I like the way it turned out.

My friend told me to NOT use polyester batting. Use 100% cotton, or a cotton wool blend, which is what I found (at Joann's).
