Springy January Day

Today the temp is supposed to get near 70... in Kansas... whoo-hooo!!!  Then start dropping back down as the days go by... back to the 30's then 20's by the end of the week. Simply wonderful! (hear my sarcasm) ;o)

So inbetween spoiling my grandbabies, I've been getting a little sewing done. I love olde sewies and am stuck in olde pin keep/pin cushion mode right now. The evening of Jan. 31 I'll have some new goodies in my Early Works Shoppe.

If you'd like a reminder, feel free to sign up for my newsletter down in the right hand column.

Have a blessed day my friends!

Catching up...

Well I've been side lined by... a sinus infection the last week. Thankfully it wasn't the flu. Of course getting sick puts you behind on so many things, most of all, trying to have a clear enough head to read my devotions. So I played a little catch up and here's a few things I wanted to share:

God wants us to view each day as an adventure, carefully planned out by Him. Don't try to program the day ahead to your will, be attentive to God and all He has prepared for you.

Each day of life is a precious, unrepeatable gift. ( I love that line! We tend to take life for granted sometimes, just going from one day to the next, one holiday off work to the next, etc. He has given us such a wonderful gift)

Thank Him and Trust Him, that He is with you each moment, whether you sense Him or not. A life lived close to God will never be dull or predictable. Expect each day to contain surprises! Resist the easy route and be ready to follow where He leads. No matter how steep or treacherous the path before you, the safest place is by His side.

Psalm 118:24  This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

1 Peter 2:21  To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.

Don't Be a Martha

In my daily devotional, Jesus Calling,  was about focusing on Jesus. When you spend time with Him are you thinking of your "to do" list or are you completely focused on Him? Bring your mind back to Jesus for refreshment and renewal. When you do this, He equips you to face whatever the day brings.

Psalm 105:4  Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always.

Luke 10:39-42 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"
"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better and it will not be taken away from her."

I have to watch myself that I'm not too much of a "Martha", too busy for what really matters!
With all of the gadgets and things to "make our lives easier", why are we busier than ever before? Just a few moments with God in the morning (as much time as you can allow), can make your day turn out much different or even much better than you can possibly imagine!

Jesus Calling

Morning friends and happy 2013!
One thing I got my husband for Christmas was this small book, "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. It's a 365 day devotional. Well he loves it and when I started looking through it I had to go get one for myself!

I know myself well enough that I'll never be able to keep up a daily blog  about this wonderful little book... but I thought I'd share a little bit, from time to time. At the end of each day's devotional are a couple of Bible versus to look up. What's cool is I find that a whole lot of them I already have highlighted in my own Bible!

The first day is about a closer walk with Jesus. Do not cling to the old ways. Seek His face with an open mind. He knows and understands you completely. And to give yourself fully to the adventure of increasing attentiveness to His Presence.

Romans 12:2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Have a blessed day my friends!
