Happy Happy - and a some tears

I'd like to introduce you to Reba, our 7th grandchild!

(That's her 9 yr old sister holding her, little bitty)

She was born on Veteran's Day!
A little bundle of 6 lb. 7 oz sweetness.

** ~~ **
And the tears are for the loss of my friend G.
I mentioned her a few months ago, battling cancer.
She left to be with our Lord on Nov. 1.
She fought as hard as she could, however,
cancer was the winner this time.
I thank all of you who said a little prayer for her.

Blessings my friends!

New Jack pic

I'm so in love with this picture of my newest grandson, Jack.  He'll be a week old tomorrow and just look at that face!  My daughter in law said it only took about 20 picture snaps to get this one! LOL

New Grandson!

We finally got to meet Jack last night!  His mama felt terminally pregnant and had given him his eviction notice, but he still took his own sweet time arriving. LOL   Such a cutie bug.  He is our 6th grandchild, and my oldest son's first born. Mama and baby and shell-shocked daddy are doing good. God is great!

Rainy Day Turkey Dinner!

Usually, in the summertime, we have the kids 'n grand kiddos over for a full out turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Oh yeah... even punkin' pie baby! It's nice to enjoy those wonderful tastes of Fall when it's blistering hot outside! Well this summer took a few twists and turns and it didn't happen...yet...until tonight! I have the best smelling house right now... Ode to Turkey... is wafting throughout!
So to celebrate the last day of August (which happens to be raining like crazy), we'll be chowing down on a few of our favorite things!
I'll probably be in a turkey coma later, but don't forget that some new Early Works creations will go live later tonight!
Happy early Fall Blessings my friends!

Prayer Warriors

Well I'm needing some prayer warriors.  I have a good friend, "G".  She just found out she has stage 4 lung cancer and it has metastasized to her brain. She is supposed to start treatment this week. She's 69, and understandably, scared to pieces. Doc said if she did nothing she'd have maybe 2 months. This is breaking my heart. Whether you comment or not is fine, but I'd sure love some prayers sent her way.
We serve an awesome God!

Thank you my friends
Blessings

End of July ~ Early Works

I can't believe it's the end of July already!!!
Even in the heat of summer, I'm thinking fall already, so I've got a new punkin' creation offering in my Early Works shop tonight.  And one more summery one.
With my finger still broke it only seemed appropriate to just do more of  an extreme prim! ;o)

This is Eleanor and Bitty Owl

And, a summertime box filled with vintage seed packet labels and a cross stitch lavender design on box top

These goodies go live tonight around 5pm CST

Im A Mess.... and Early Works

and a klutz....

I've been having shoulder pain lately and it's looking like rotator cuff. Bleck. Should hear confirmation in a day or two.  Now, I've been dealing with this for almost a month, yeah, docs don't move too fast... and I haven't been either.

Which is why I was so surprised when on Father's Day I managed to slam my right index finger in my truck door. The angle was such, and because of limited movement/strength and pain in left arm, I was unable to open the door and free myself. I'm like....are you kidding me!
Okay I probably thought that later, right then it was blinding pain and I don't care how old you are...I wanted my mama! LOL

I managed to get one half-hearted yell out before I doubled over from pain. I don't recall experiencing debilitating pain like that... or at least maybe it's been so long I've forgotten. One of my son's made it over to me and released me. Well that finger immediately wasn't pretty, swelling, black, split, etc.

Anyway, I figured it was just mashed and didn't go to a doctor.  I mean really, if I ran to a doc every time I hurt myself I'd be paying rent there. ;0)    So I finally get an appointment with an Ortho doc about shoulder last Friday. The male nurse sees my wrapped finger and says, "What did you do there?"

I tell him.  He says, "Please let me look at it."  He does, and goes, "Your getting an xray right now!"

Short story....

Snapped that little puppy right off!  He says, "You're gonna feel that when the weather changes!"  Gee thanks.  But really he was very good and lightened me up. And, I learned something new, when you have a break like this, compound fracture, the risk for infection is higher so I had to get on some antibiotics pronto...plus splint to keep it immobile.

So that's my explanation why I am offering some different goodies tonight in my Early Works shop.  (And if I mis spelled anything, I'm hunting 'n pecking on keyboard).  This too shall pass.

I can do all Things through Christ who gives me strength.
  Philippians 4:13

~~Blessings my friends ~~

Update: just heard from doc... shoulder has a Labral tear which means no surgery at this point, however, 8 weeks of PT in my very near future. Thank you Lord!

Safe weed killer

I came across this simple recipe recently. It works amazing and no poisons that could hurt kiddos or critters.
I've used this here and there for a couple weeks now and wanted to share. Great for grass and weeds coming up  through gravel, pathways, etc.

Here's the ingredients...

For every 1/2 gallon of apple cider vinegar,
add 1/4 cup salt and 1 teaspoon Dawn.

I put mine in a 1 gallon Hudson sprayer.

In 24 hours or less you go from this

To this

Easy peasy!

Blessings my friends

Westerning Women Quilt Blocks

I've started on a little journey this year with Barbara Brackman's WesterningWomen monthly quilt blocks!

I've taken quickie pics after finishing #5 just now...
Here are the quilt blocks I've done so far:

#1 Independence Square

#2 Indian Territory

#3 Sweet Gum Leaf

#4 Lone Elm

#5 The Platte River

I'm really enjoying doing these and excited to see how it might turn out as a big 'ol finished quilt someday.  In the meantime, I'm learning and tweaking and loving the stories and back grounds she provides. Thanks Barbara!

Blessings
Debbie
