Making Salsa

I used to grow acres of gardens, but as I've gotten older....and all those mouths to feed are off feeding their own families.... I've really cut back.  The other day, however, one of my son's asked if I was going to make my salsa this year. (It's been a couple years).  I told him I'd thought about it, but the weather has been bad for gardening and I hadn't found any lately.  (After so many years of big gardens, it feels alien to actually buy produce) haha --  He says, "well, I've been chosen family spokesperson, and if we all don't get salsa we will not be happy."  ;o)

So after searching far and wide, we finally found a bunch of tomatoes close to us. Jeez.  We got 60 lbs. and made new friends.  To put in perspective, 53 lbs is a bushel.  

Yesterday was the first time my husband helped me with my canning. I had him on the hot water dunk to loosen the skins and we worked together well. 

We put up 24 pints and 2 quarts. The quarts were the extra when I was tired of the hot water bath, and will be eaten now. Of course, the son that delivered the message, stopped by today and.... first come first served.... was sent home with some salsa. 

At 8:30 pm last night, when the last batch was done, my husband actually asked me if I wanted to get more and put up more salsa.  I'm like... gimme a few days to rest up buddy!

He never knew how much work it was to do this.

My grand kids are already lamenting about how many days until school starts.  For their parents, however, it's the most wonderful time of the year. haha 😉

New Old Rustic Coat Rack

I love how this coat rack turned out. My husband finally got 'round to it and took him such a short time he was sorry he put me off for so long. I helped a little, but just so.

 LOL  

It's okay - life happens.

The board came from an old deck and he then burned it here and there. 

The porcelain knobs are from my years of haunting antique stores. 

Love it!

Memorial Day has come and gone (already!) and the heat of summer is starting to blast us between bouts of rain (and the muggies) ! My gardens are showing some tremendous growth...hmmm, and that lawn mower is sure getting a work out too!

Memorial Day

WARNING....

By accident, I stumbled across a website: pindiy

They have my copy righted patterns, as well as tons of other artists. It says you can contact them, tells ya how, and there's no way to do it unless you sign up and give them your info.

This is a MALICIOUS site. From what I've gleaned so far, people can anonymously put anyone's patterns up and sell them or offer for free. With mine, they've uploaded a photo of the front of my pattern pages. So they aren't denying they are my patterns, but it also appears like I am the one offering them. 

 ** I AM NOT. **

So far I've found 17 of my patterns on here!

 They DO NOT have my permission.

Sadly, because of the pic on there, these are being offered on this site by a past customer of mine. 😞

I've also learned this site will steal your personal info as well as your financial info and when you download the PDF patterns, and they put a virus in them somehow. 

So please, DO NOT download anything from this site.

I'm still trying to figure out how to contact them to take my patterns off, but not sure how, and there's no way I'm signing up for this site.

So be forewarned. And know that I am not putting my patterns on there.

Spring is FINALLY here!

 I think we had an extra 3 winters in April, but that is gone now and the Spring flowers are blooming!

Also, after many years of using the mailing list Bravenet, I'm dropping it for sending monthly newsletters via email.
 I'm not sure what happened with Bravenet.... the newsletters were bouncing back. I contacted them and I'm just not geek enough to understand it I guess. ;o)

March is here and Spring is around the corner!

Spring Break will be here soon and it seems that sadly, the traditions of my kids time in school, are being passed on to my grand kids. 😕 It can be beautiful weather the week before and after Spring Break, but on that long anticipated week, winter/storms/rain/cold .... always seem to return with a vengeance. Is it only around here that happens?

Well I've been having more fun with wool and I have some new designs ready to go live the evening of Feb. 28!

 January has sped by and February is around the corner! We've been fortunate to not have tons of snow, however, the cold has been incredible and hanging on!
I only hope this cold will kill off those pesky bugs before I plant my garden! 😏
